These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the GeoQuest IOW website, mobile services, and interactive exploration game. By creating an account or participating in GeoQuest IOW, you agree to these Terms.

1. About GeoQuest IOW

GeoQuest IOW is an interactive exploration platform that encourages players to discover locations across the Isle of Wight through educational content, challenges, and rewards.

GeoQuest IOW is designed for entertainment, education, tourism, and community engagement.

2. Eligibility

3. Player Accounts

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your account information up to date.
  • All activity carried out using your account.

You must not:

  • Share your account with others.
  • Create multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage.
  • Impersonate another person.
  • Attempt to access another player’s account.

GeoQuest IOW reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

4. Playing the Game

GeoQuest IOW encourages exploration of public places and participating partner locations.

While playing you agree to:

  • Respect private property.
  • Follow all local laws.
  • Follow public rights of way.
  • Respect opening hours at attractions and businesses.
  • Follow instructions displayed on-site.

You are responsible for your own safety at all times.

5. GeoQuest Markers and QR Codes

Official GeoQuest markers, stickers, and QR codes remain the property of GeoQuest IOW.

Players must not:

  • Remove them.
  • Damage them.
  • Cover them.
  • Deface them.
  • Relocate them.
  • Replace them with unofficial copies.

If you discover a damaged marker, please report it using the Contact Us page.

6. Fair Play

GeoQuest IOW is designed to be enjoyable for everyone.

Players must not:

  • Cheat or exploit the game.
  • Share code words publicly.
  • Publish QR code locations for unfair advantage.
  • Use automated software or bots.
  • Manipulate GPS signals.
  • Attempt to bypass verification systems.
  • Modify or reverse engineer the website or game.

Any unfair behaviour may result in warnings, loss of rewards, suspension, or permanent account removal.

7. Rewards

GeoQuest rewards are offered at the discretion of GeoQuest IOW and participating businesses.

Rewards:

  • May change without notice.
  • May have expiry dates.
  • May be limited by availability.
  • May require proof of eligibility.

Business partners are responsible for honouring their advertised offers while they remain active participants.

GeoQuest IOW cannot guarantee the availability of partner offers if a business changes ownership, closes, or withdraws from the programme.

8. Business Partners

Partner businesses operate independently from GeoQuest IOW.

GeoQuest IOW is not responsible for:

  • Products or services supplied by partners.
  • Pricing.
  • Opening hours.
  • Customer service provided by partners.
  • Availability of rewards.

Any purchases or agreements made with a partner are between you and that business.

9. Safety

Your safety is always your responsibility.

Do not:

  • Enter private land without permission.
  • Trespass.
  • Climb unsafe structures.
  • Enter closed buildings.
  • Take unnecessary risks.
  • Ignore warning signs.
  • Play while driving.

Always remain aware of your surroundings, especially near roads, cliffs, beaches, rivers, and other natural hazards.

If a location appears unsafe, do not attempt to access it.

10. Educational Content

GeoQuest IOW aims to provide accurate historical, geographical, environmental, and educational information.

While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all information is complete or free from error.

11. User Content

Where players are permitted to submit content, including photographs, suggestions, or cache proposals, you confirm that:

  • You own the content or have permission to submit it.
  • The content does not infringe anyone else’s rights.
  • The content is lawful and appropriate.

By submitting content, you grant GeoQuest IOW a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display, and promote that content in connection with the game.

12. Account Suspension

GeoQuest IOW may suspend or permanently remove accounts for:

  • Cheating.
  • Abuse of the system.
  • Offensive behaviour.
  • Harassment.
  • Fraud.
  • Damage to GeoQuest property.
  • Repeated breaches of these Terms.

Where appropriate, we may also remove XP, badges, rewards, or discoveries gained unfairly.

13. Intellectual Property

The GeoQuest IOW name, logo, branding, artwork, badge designs, icons, printed materials, website content, software, and original game systems are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or modify any part of GeoQuest IOW without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

14. Website Availability

We aim to keep GeoQuest IOW available at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.

The website may occasionally be unavailable due to:
